I tried this item on my 1851 Colt Sheriff. I bent the latching end of the loading lever down. I modified the Hand to get a better grip on the lever and I thought I had the problem solved. I was wrong. Slixprings worked with me on the problem and even offered to buy me a new loading lever. Bottom line, I would not use this product on a short barreled pistol. I have the Slixprings nipples on my guns and they are great. But I can not endorse this product.

Does not fit well on 1849 colt by uberti. 1849 has super short loading lever...to get most out of it i use eras gone conicals. This slixhand just bent the lever all to heck. Because of the short lever and the desire to use conical the 1849 needs a slixhand that fits well to distribut leverage. This 1849 is getting more popular and seeing more of them. Id made a silxhand for it spcificly that fits it... probably a flatstock that could be sandcasted....out of scrap aluminium

We have since made a modification to the Hand to better assist in its use with the short loading levers. We sent the customer a revised version and he said it worked much better. If you have one of the original ones it will work fine, just don’t use either one of the slots when sliding it over the loading lever. The updated version has a "small" cutout for the Pocket Models.

The tool is super helpful with my Pietta Sheriff however, it requires some filing.

Out of the box it puts a lot of force on the top of the loading lever and can break the thin metal where the catch is.

I don't mind filing the SlixHand but it's annoying that the tool can break your loading arm if you're not careful.

If the tool is used as it’s intended it will work properly as shown in the pictures on the product page. You might by chance have one of our older designs.

Works as it should, but the aluminum is soft. Bent easily

The Hand is machined from 3/4" solid aircraft 6061 aluminum. If it bent, then it’s not being used correctly.

It performs its function perfectly, but when you have almost entirely all period correct 1860s guns, it would be nice if it was available in brass since almost all black-powder shooting accessories are brass. Machined aluminum just seems out of place.

We agree but the cost of making them out of brass would be about 2.5 times more than aluminum. I don’t think people would be willing to pay around $50 for this item.

WORKED GREAT. PROVIDED NEEDED LEVERAGE TO LOAD THE ROUND BALL.

This is a very well made product for adding leverage to the ramming lever. However, it fits my Pietta 1860 Army somewhat loosely and is not really that useful for leverage although it does make it easier on the hand when doing a lot of reloading. Would definitely be nice for a pistol with a short lever. So, I would definitely recommend it for shorter ramming levers.

This extended lever works wonderfully, it's professionally designed and manufactured. I was using a lenght of thick walled tubing. Now having purchased this I look more professional and have the added features of this tool

I think this little helper will save a lot sore hands I haven’t tried it yet but seems like great addition to my cap n ball inventory

Makes loading my sheriff model revolvers much easier to load. Those short handles always made my hand sore.

I bought this because my small collection is rapidly growing. What fun is collecting if you don’t shoot them, right? I bought a Pietta Remington sheriff model first and found it somewhat tedious to load with the short lever. A few more pistols down the road I bought a Pietta Navy sheriff. As soon as I got it out of the box I knew this was going to be more than a little tedious to load. It’s lever is even shorter than the Remington’s. I saw a video on YouTube where a shooter had one of these “Slixhands”, so I ordered one. As soon as I got it from the mailbox I tried it out on both of my sheriffs. What a difference it makes. An absolute must have for the short loading levers for full leverage. And, what’s not advertised or shown clearly in the pictures is that on the cutouts where it slips over the lever they are different t sizes. The thin cutout is for the Remington levers while the wider side is for the Colt. Incredible that something so simple can be so effective. Makes loading so much easier.

A quality product that is excellent for use on black powder Sheriff model / short barreled revolvers with their truncated ramrod. Have both a Pietta 1851 Colt Sheriff in .44 cal. and a 1858 New Model Army stainless steel model and this Slix-Hand makes easy work of loading the cylinders of these pistols.

No more deep hurtful impressions in one's hand and the gouges are gone via this item.

Even though it's crafted in Aluminum, it's sturdy enough to last a lifetime of use on a black powder revolver and the warning NOT for use on the Walker Colt is quite true as it's not needed there and can possibly mess up the ramrod finish to that monster black powder horse pistol.
Great Product!

Am new to black powder shooting and decided to add the SLiX Hand to my cart along with the Nipples. So glad I did. Made seating the ball a breeze with the extra leverage, didn't hurt my hand at all, and did not mark up the gun. One of those things you didn't think you needed, but can't live without.

Haven’t used this yet, bought it so when I get my Sheriff model of the 1851/1860 BP revolvers it will be easier for loading. Quality and construction seems exceptional.

I bought this after seeing on a video of it on YouTube. I have a 5 and 1/2 inch barrel 1860 Army colt, on the long barrel gun it is no problem to load with my favored load of a .454" ball, but the short rammer on the 5.5 inch gun will eat your hand alive. If you make cartridges the paper just makes it worse, with the Slix Hand shooting got fun again!
